Vector search has arrived in MongoDB Community Edition. That does not mean it is production-ready.
This was the first public presentation of Percona Search for MongoDB: the trip from a proof of concept to running and maintaining the system on your own infrastructure.
What we covered:
- The evolution of search. Full-text, semantic, and hybrid search, through to RAG, on MongoDB data patterns you already know.
- Production reality. Embedding pipelines, scale, authentication, monitoring, and Day 2 automation — the gaps that show up only after the prototype works.
- A practical stack. A reference architecture with automatic embeddings, enterprise authentication, and vector-index monitoring in Percona Monitoring and Management (PMM).
- Live demo. A working Percona Search stack and a board-game search app on top of it.
