The open source landscape is changing. More and more companies are using open source as a tool to generate valuations and buzz, sometimes to the detriment of the community. What good is coming from this? Some… what bad? Some as well.., lets highlight the dangers we see from the current trends in open source.
Matt Yonkovit was Head of Open Source Strategy (HOSS) at Percona. He has over 15 years in open source, including more than 10 years leading teams. That mix covers both the technical and business side of open source databases: hands-on work, management, and building teams. At Percona he ran or helped run service delivery (consulting, support, managed services), customer success, product management, marketing, and operations, and later OSPO, community, and developer relations. He hosted the HOSS talks FOSS podcast and writes about MySQL and PostgreSQL.
