Independent MySQL advocate

Geir Høydalsvik has been working on the MySQL Database since 2008. He is currently an independent MySQL advocate. In the period from 2010 to 2025 he worked for Oracle and was responsible for the development and maintenance of the MySQL Database. He has a background in the database industry, working for the database startup company Clustra Inc. on the Clustra database (2000-2002) and for Sun Microsystems on Java DB (2002-2008). He has a Master degree in Computer Science (1991) and a PhD in Software Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (1997).
