When You Don’t Control the Hardware: Troubleshooting MySQL in the Cloud - May 11, 2026

Speakers:  Sveta Smirnova

Traditional MySQL troubleshooting assumes you control the server, but in the cloud, that assumption is gone. In this session, Sveta Smirnova will explore practical, field-tested techniques for diagnosing MySQL issues when hardware visibility is limited.

Whether you are running MySQL in a managed service, on virtual machines, or inside containers, you often lose access to low-level system data. Participants will learn how to work confidently with the visibility they actually have, focusing on:

  • Relying on Performance Schema, sys schema, and log files when OS access is restricted.
  • Interpreting symptoms that originate outside MySQL, such as CPU throttling and I/O caps.
  • Cloud- and container-specific observability tools.
  • Workarounds and investigative strategies for real-world incidents in AWS, GCP, Azure, or Kubernetes.
  • 📅 Date/Time: May 11, 2026, 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM GMT
  • 👤 Speaker: Sveta Smirnova - Principal Support Engineering Coordinator
