OSMC 2026

Date:

Location: Nuremberg, Germany

Speakers: Kris Buytaert, Radoslaw Szulgo, Sandra Romanchenko

OSMC 2026 is the twentieth Open Source Monitoring Conference. It is still a small, practical event: people who run monitoring and observability in production, plus the maintainers of the tools they actually use.

The first day is workshops. The next two are talks in two rooms, with time left for the hallway track. Sessions are in English. Slides and recordings go to attendees after the conference.

  • 📅 November 17–19, 2026 — workshops on the 17th; talks on the 18th and 19th
  • 📍 Nuremberg, Germany
  • 🏛 Venue: Scandic Nürnberg Central, Frauentorgraben 11
  • 🔗 Schedule and tickets: osmc.de

Observability for Vector Search: Why Your Green Dashboard Is Lying To You

Radoslaw Szulgo and Sandra Romanchenko · November 18

Dashboards stay green — QPS, errors, latency — while vector search quietly returns worse results. The talk walks the layers you actually have to watch: database internals, index health, the model, and the quality of what comes out.

The History of Open Source Monitoring

If you are in Nuremberg for OSMC, find Kris, Radoslaw, or Sandra between sessions. The useful part is usually the comparison of what you are running now. ∎

Kris Buytaert

Kris Buytaert is a long-time DevOps and Open Source expert and engineering leader. He recently joined Percona as Practice Lead, Observability. He is one of the instigators of the DevOps movement and has started more than one conference series. He has lost count of how many times he has spoken at other events. He spends most of his time bridging the gap between developers and operations, while warning people not to make the mistakes he made. He builds infrastructures that can survive the 10th floor test or a datacenter fire, while actively promoting the DevOps idea.
