Senior Software Engineer, Percona Server for MySQL @ Percona

Oleksiy Lukin is a Senior Software Engineer on the Percona Server for MySQL team, working on releases, bug fixes and new features since joining Percona in April 2024. That work includes the UUID_VX component, which brings UUID versions 1 to 7 from RFC 9562 to the server; thread pool statistics and fixes; MeCab full-text search fixes; and the KMIP keyring component, now built on kmipclient, Percona’s open source KMIP library in C++.

Before Percona came more than 30 years of C, C++ and Java: Linux and FreeBSD kernel modules, a transparent encrypting file system, a DDoS protection system, cryptography libraries and X.509 services. Oleksiy taught TCP/IP networking and network security at Chernihiv Polytechnic for over 20 years, still teaches there as a visiting professor, and has helped organize Chernihiv’s FOSS conference since 2009.

Oleksiy’s personal open source project is S7, a platform for building, running and observing distributed causal systems such as signal processing, software-defined radio and simulation of dynamic systems. Away from the keyboard: jazz and hard rock on guitar and bass, diving, and skiing.
