Mountaineers: the Percona Community program
Recognize your community contributions and earn rewards as you climb from Basecamp to the summit.
Every time you take part in this community, it counts. Filing a bug, opening a PR, answering a question on the forum, writing a blog post, sitting down with our engineers to tell them what’s working and what isn’t — all of it. Through the act of climbing the mountain, we monitor your contributions, provide recognition, and offer rewards.
This isn’t only for the people writing code. We want to hear from you regardless of how you engage — through code, through conversation, through what you write, or through direct feedback to our engineering team.
How it works
Everyone starts at Basecamp. From there, you climb based on how you engage with the community:
- GitHub — issues, PRs, and merged contributions
- Forum — starting discussions, replying, and accepted solutions
- Content — blog posts and tutorials, including through our Community Writers Program
- Direct feedback — 1:1 sessions with our engineering team, telling us how you’re using our tools and what you’d like to see next
Active in more than one of these in the same month, and your points multiply. There’s no single right way to climb — code, conversation, and content all count.
What you get
Points exchange for rewards as you climb:
- Basecamp — stickers, digital badges
- Climber — community T-shirts, water bottles, and a Challenge Coin
- Lead — hoodies, tech accessories, a Challenge Coin, and an invite to Percona Live
The Challenge Coin isn’t something you can buy. It’s earned.
Get on the leaderboard
The moment you’re on the leaderboard at Basecamp, you’re in the program. That gets you access to our engineering team, eligibility for exclusive swag, and invites to community events.
To get started, we need a few details:
- Name
- Your role — what you do day to day
- Database of choice — MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MariaDB, or whatever you’re running
- Where you’re based — this is how regional leaderboards work
Optional, if you want your contributions linked up:
- GitHub
- X
- Mastodon
- Bluesky
Join Mountaineers — it takes two minutes, and your existing GitHub and forum activity starts counting right away.
If you’d rather tell us what you think directly, book time with our engineering team or pitch a post for the blog.
